What is All-Wheel Drive?

You have an all-wheel drive vehicle if the powertrain under the hood has the potential to provide power to the front and rear wheels. The full-time AWD function will move all of the wheels continuously, while the part-time function will only power two of the wheels unless additional traction is needed. The switch is made automatically on behalf of your vehicle. You don't have to engage any switch or lever to make the traction happen.

What is Four-Wheel Drive?

Larger vehicles that carry a lot of weight are often equipped adequately with four-wheel drive. This system is comprised of differentials in the front, center, and rear, powered by transfer cases and couplings. All four wheels will receive power as needed, with both full-time and part-time modes included. In this system, you do control what mode you're using. We recommend that you use the low setting if you're in need of maximum traction on very slick road surfaces. You can switch over to the high setting if you need traction but at a lower level.
