Bob Nelson Named an All-Star in Sustainability

On December 9, 2024, Bob Nelson was honored at the Automotive News All-Star Awards for his leadership in Honda's environmental efforts. Nelson has spearheaded the company's Triple Action to Zero strategy, which aims to achieve zero environmental impact by 2050 through carbon neutrality, resource recycling, and clean energy initiatives.

Nelson spoke about his award, saying, “It is an honor for me to lead this companywide effort that involves an incredible team of creative and passionate Honda associates who are working to realize our goal of zero environmental impact.” He also acknowledged the challenges they face but expressed confidence in achieving Honda's goals by or before 2050.

Having started his career at Honda's Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio, Nelson has been involved in various roles within the company, particularly in manufacturing. He was a driving force behind Honda's first sustainability award for suppliers. In his current role, Nelson handles several aspects of Honda's operations, including human resources and business management, all while keeping an eye on the company's environmental ambitions.

As the Honda North American environmental committee chair, Nelson oversees strategies involving 13 different groups. His leadership continues to be a key factor in the success of these initiatives.
