2018 Honda Odyssey

There’s a lot for moms and dads to love about the all-new 2018 Honda Odyssey, now including its terrific safety scores! Just recently, the popular minivan was awarded the highest ratings from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), making it a top choice among Phoenix-area families.

"Odyssey was designed to keep everyone in the family happy, and helping to keep everyone safer is a crucial part of that mission," said Ray Mikiciuk, assistant vice president of Honda Automobile Sales. "Honda's goal of reaching a collision-free society includes safety improvements for each new generation of Odyssey without having to sacrifice minivan-first technologies like available Magic Slide Seat™, which consumers have come to love."

5-Star Overall Vehicle Score From the NHTSA

To qualify for the NHTSA’s 5-Star Overall Vehicle, a vehicle must score high in three different crash tests: frontal, side and rollover. Thanks to the Odyssey’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering, front side airbags, three-row side curtain airbags with rollover sensors and automatic seatbelt tensioners, the minivan was able to achieve this impressive designation.

Top Safety Pick+ From the IIHS

The IIHS puts vehicles through a total of five crashworthiness tests: small overlap front, moderate overlap front, head restraint, side and roof strength. The Odyssey received the highest score of “Good” in each of these tests.

However, in order to receive the “+,” vehicles must also be available with front collision avoidance technology (rated Advanced or Superior) and high-quality headlights (rated Acceptable or Good). The Odyssey’s optional Collision Mitigation Braking System was given a Superior rating, and the IIHS staff were also highly impressed with the minivan’s available LED headlights.
