Hear ye, hear ye! All ye who love a savory turkey leg and a good joust will be delighted to learn that the Arizona Renaissance Festival is now open for the season. Every weekend from now to April 2, trade in your t-shirts and jeans for tunics and stockings at this merry medieval amusement park!

There’s no better way to welcome in springtime than at the annual Renaissance Festival. Drawing in 270,000 attendees each year, the faire is a beloved tradition for Valley families all over the Phoenix area, and can be yours too!

As you enter the gates into the 30-acre village, you’ll be greeted by a menagerie of merriment and madness. Filling this 16th century marketplace are about 200 storybook craft shops, which sell various goods from perfumes and candles to flower crowns and jewelry. Additionally, there are plenty of food stalls to check out for unique eats like turkey legs, steak-on-a-stake, bread bowls and meat pies.

When it comes to entertainment, there are also plenty of game booths for attendees of all ages to try their luck at, plus over a dozen entertainment stages and a jousting arena. With over 150 shows a day plus 2,000 character actors on site, there’s no shortage of raucous fun and revelry at the Arizona Renaissance Festival! If you’re keen on costumes, you’re welcome to dress up, too. The faire even rents out costumes for daily use.

What sort of things can you expect from the festival? There’s a little bit of everything here, including:

  • Acrobat performances
  • Sword swallowing
  • Tournament jousting
  • Music and comedy shows
  • Live craft demonstrations – glass blowing, blacksmithing and more
  • The world’s largest rocking horse

Advanced general admission tickets start at just $22, and can be purchased at your local Fry’s grocery store or online here. Fare thee well!
