The Paris Motor Show was home to a lot of exciting auto revelations, but perhaps the most enticing was the reveal of the new Honda Civic Type R production-ready prototype. Get all the details on this highly-anticipated performance-oriented model below!
The Type R is one fierce car, showing off an aggressive low stance and sharp body lines that convey its ready-to-race attitude. The exterior is wrapped in a reflective aluminum-effect finish and is adorned with 20-inch black alloy wheels, LED headlights with smoked lenses and a rear spoiler. Bright red accents—Honda grille badging, brake calipers and bottom trim—are used throughout to draw the eye to the vehicle’s focal points.
Modified to improve on its aerodynamic performance, the Type R also features a variety of unique design features. There are several carbon fiber body pieces, including a winged splitter, side skirts and rear diffusers, on the prototype model. The Type R is also equipped with a hood-mounted intake scoop, dual vortex generators and a trio of tailpipes.

"We promised the most ambitious, sportiest Civic lineup ever and we're delivering on that promise with each new Civic," said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "For the first time ever in America, Honda fans and enthusiasts will have access to the ultimate in Civic performance in the form of the new Type R."
Performance specs have not yet been released on the new Civic model, so stay tuned to our Honda blog for the latest information! The Type R is all set to make its appearance in the U.S. market early next year, launching alongside the rest of the 2017 Civic line-up, including the new Civic Hatchback and forthcoming Civic Si.
