Next Gen Honda Fuel Cell Module to Make North American Debut at ACT Expo 2025

In 2027, Honda's groundbreaking Next Gen fuel cell module is set to go into production. This technology is so important that it's being unveiled at two major events: Japan's International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo and the North American Advanced Clean Transportation Expo.

Discover Honda's Next Generation Fuel Cell Module

Efficiency continues to be a top priority for the automotive world. Automakers need to control production costs, and drivers demand efficient, long-lasting technology. Honda's updated fuel cell module checks both boxes—cutting costs significantly while enhancing overall performance and reliability.

Stronger, Smarter Performance

Honda says the latest fuel cell design will “double” the lifespan of previous versions and lower costs by up to 50%. With triple the volumetric power density, it also sets a new standard for compact, high-performance modules.

Fueling New Partnerships

Honda's latest fuel cell innovation opens new business opportunities. The company is seeking like-minded partners who share its enthusiasm for advancing hydrogen fuel technology.

Honda Speaks Up

David Perznski, Hydrogen Solutions Development assistant manager at American Honda Motor Co., Inc., stated, “Our production plan for the next generation Honda fuel cell module demonstrates our continued commitment to support hydrogen as an enabler for decarbonization.” The Honda team looks forward to revealing these developments to the public.

On April 28, Honda will present its Class 8 Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck concept, showcase the fuel cell module, and introduce the 2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV—the first plug-in hydrogen fuel cell EV produced in the U.S. Performance specs include 450-850V output voltage, a 150 kW max net output, and nearly 60% net efficiency. Honda invites potential partners to join in shaping the next chapter of fuel cell innovation.
